Roku has completed migrating all developer resources from GitHub to GitLab. The move covers the developer documentation, sample apps, and the tooling repositories you build against, consolidating them into a single, central location.

The impact to developers is minimal:

- Links in the developer documentation and blog posts have been updated to the new GitLab URLs, so following a link from our docs lands you in the right place.

- If you’ve bookmarked or stored a Roku repository URL, you’ll need to update it.

Updating your bookmarked URLs

The repository names are staying the same; therefore, a repository at github.com/rokudev/<repo> is now at gitlab.com/rokudev/<repo>. Anywhere you have bookmarked or stored a Roku repository URL, you need to update that URL.

- **Knowledge bases and AI solutions:** If you index our repositories to ground a retrieval pipeline, an internal assistant, or a coding agent, update the source URLs and re-crawl. Raw file URLs move as well, so a pipeline that reads from raw.githubusercontent.com needs the GitLab raw path instead. Check this case first: a stale index does not raise an error, it quietly serves outdated content.

- **Git remotes:** For a clone you already have, point it at the new host with git remote set-url origin https://gitlab.com/rokudev/<repo>.git.

- **Submodules, CI, and everything else:** Update the URL in .gitmodules, then run git submodule sync. Check any pipeline that clones a repository, fetches a release artifact, or installs a package directly from a git URL. Then check bookmarks, runbooks, and internal wikis.

To find the stragglers, you can search your own repositories for rokudev and work through the hits.

Suggesting documentation fixes

You can still suggest fixes to the developer docs. Request access to the docs repository athttps://gitlab.com/rokudev/dev-doc, fork it, and submit a merge request with your change. The “Suggest edits” feature is not supported on GitLab.
