The Apple Trade In program makes it easy to trade in an eligible iPad. Just answer a few questions regarding the model and condition, and we will provide an estimated trade-in value Footnote◊ or a simple way to recycle it for free if it’s not eligible for credit.

We’ll send you a free trade-in kit. You may receive it along with your new device. Otherwise, it will be mailed to you separately as soon as your order is ready for delivery or pickup. Once you receive the trade-in kit, you have 14 days to prepare and send in your device.

Once we receive your iPad, we’ll inspect it and verify its condition. If the condition matches what you described, there’s nothing more you need to do. If the condition doesn’t match, a new trade-in value will be provided. You’ll have the option to either accept this revised value or reject it. We’ll work with you to confirm that you still want to move forward with the trade‑in.

If you buy online and choose to pay with Apple Card Monthly Installments, we’ll instantly apply your estimated trade‑in value to the purchase of your new iPad. If you pay in full, your trade-in value is applied as a refund to your original payment method. This happens once we receive your eligible iPad and confirm that the condition matches what you described.

The trade-in process can take up to 2-3 weeks.

Terminating your Apple Upgrade Lease: Closing your lease and returning your device terminates your lease. For iPad, your plan covers one Apple Pencil or Apple Pencil Pro and/or one Apple-branded iPad keyboard compatible with and used with a covered iPad for accidental damage and defects in material or workmanship under your plan.

Theft and loss claims are for Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad. Each claim is subject to a deductible. While the plan is active and in effect, claim limits reset every 12 months: two claims under AppleCare+ and three claims under AppleCare One.

Theft and loss coverage requires you to have Find My enabled on your device at the time it is lost or stolen. Find My should remain enabled and your device should remain associated with your Apple Account throughout the theft or loss claim process. During the theft or loss claims process, you will be asked to erase your missing device, disable it, and transfer ownership before you can be issued a new device. International replacement of lost or stolen devices is subject to availability and options may vary by region, device, and model. Same-day replacement is not available for theft and loss claims.

Theft and loss coverage does not apply to an Apple Pencil or Apple-branded keyboard even if lost or stolen with a covered iPad. For any covered Apple Watch theft or loss incidents, including those involving Nike and Hermès watch bands, the replacement band will be an Apple-branded band, which may differ in band style, material, and/or color from the band lost with the covered Apple Watch, subject to Apple’s discretion. Theft or loss claims cannot be made for watch bands only; bands are covered only when the Apple Watch is lost or stolen.

Express Replacement Service (“ERS”) is subject to availability, capability, and local law at the time you seek service. The service fee for accidental damage is $49 or $99 depending on iPad model. The service fee for Apple Pencil or Apple-branded iPad keyboard is $29. For all iPad models launched after May 1, 2024, the service fee is $29 for screen-only repair and $99 for all other accidental damage. The screen-only repair service fee is available only on eligible iPad models when there is no other damage present; if there is damage in addition to the screen, the service fee is $99.
