About the role
You'll own Clara's growth engine, supporting our mission by helping more patients discover Clara and turn to it for their day-to-day primary care needs. Landing pages, onboarding funnel, experimentation, attribution, and lifecycle messaging all belong to you. You'll work across the entire funnel - from the first ad impression or search result, through signup and onboarding, into first chat, subscription and long-term retention. You'll write the code, ship the pages, wire the events, run the tests, and read the results yourself. You'll partner closely with our clinical and compliance teams to make sure every page, claim and experiment is medically accurate and HIPAA-safe.
**Your responsibilities**
**Acquisition and conversion surfaces:**
- Ship programmatic and SEO-driven page systems for condition, medication and geo intent
- Integrate paid ad platforms with our attribution stack so every channel's true contribution is measurable
- Build and iterate high-velocity landing pages and funnels in React + TypeScript
- Own patient acquisition and onboarding end to end
**Product-led growth:**
- Build in-product growth loops — activation nudges, referrals, sharing and re-engagement surfaces
- Design onboarding that gets patients to first real value fast, then to habitual use
- Design, build and launch experiments and MVPs autonomously — from hypothesis to shipped test to readout, without waiting to be told what to try
- Turn patient behavior signals into personalized in-product prompts, with clinical review in the loop
**Experimentation and attribution:**
- Own the experimentation platform end to end — assignment, exposure, guardrails, readouts
- Instrument the funnel in Amplitude and keep the event taxonomy trustworthy
**Lifecycle:**
- Partner with the clinical team to keep patients engaged with Clara over the long term and realize better health outcomes
- Build event-triggered lifecycle journeys across onboarding rescue, reactivation and re-engagement
- Own the CRM surfaces — email, SMS and in-product notifications — and the logic that decides who hears what, when
**What we're looking for**
**Required**:
- 3+ years software engineering, including 12+ months in a dedicated growth engineering role
- Strong full-stack ability — React + TypeScript front end, Python or TypeScript services
- Experience with product analytics instrumentation (Amplitude, Mixpanel or similar) and event taxonomy design
- Experience scoping and prioritizing initiatives using RICE or a similar framework, and defending the call
**Nice to haves:**
- Medical domain knowledge or healthcare AI experience
- Comfortable using LLMs as a production tool for content, creative and internal tooling
**What Clara offers founding engineers**
**Impact:**
- Ship code that affects real patient health outcomes
- Make architectural decisions for an AI-first medical practice
- Work directly with founders on technical strategy
**Team & culture:**
- High-performance founding team at the forefront of healthcare AI
- In-person collaboration in San Francisco (5 days/week)
- Talk to real patients and providers regularly
- No bureaucracy, ship fast
**Technology stack**
Growth stack: Amplitude (incl. session replay + Experiment), Customer.io, Stripe, Google/Meta/Reddit Ads APIs. Underneath: React 19 + TypeScript product app, Next.js + Payload CMS marketing site on Vercel, Python/Django backend on AWS, and frontier LLMs with proprietary prompts and tool calls.
**Visa sponsorship**
We will sponsor TN, OPT and H1B transfer work permits for the right candidate.
